LOUISIANA GOVERNOR TELLS REPUBLICANS TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP ABOUT OBAMA

maxresdefault

As Donald Trump was playing for attention in Louisiana, exploiting flood victims for a photo-op and using them as a method to attack President Obama for not being there as well, the state’s governor John Bel Edwards completely took the wind out of the Republicans’ sails by reminding them who is in charge of the state.
He told them that he requested President Obama stay away from the state for now. That’s the reason President Obama wasn’t there. It wasn’t because he hates America, or is a secret Muslim, or whatever the excuse today is to hate Obama. Governor Edwards simply felt it wasn’t an appropriate time for a presidential visit.

AND BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE…

Governor Edwards really makes a great point. The place is underwater and having a presidential cavalcade gallivanting around when really all they are going to do is survey the scene, make some speeches, meet some people then go home? It actually won’t speed up the recovery.
I love Obama but really.. What’s he going to do by physically being there at this specific moment, which he can’t accomplish in a couple weeks once the roads are open again?
Governor Edwards was right in telling him to wait for now and come down a few weeks later. There’s no reason for Republicans to be squawking about this the way they are, since it wasn’t even really Obama’s idea to not go. Something tells me they won’t be attacking Governor Edwards, though, during his state’s crisis for his decision.
Conservative outlets have been trying to draw comparisons between Obama honoring the governor’s request, and George W. Bush hiding out during Hurricane Katrina and botching the response to it. Nothing could be further from the truth, but when did Republicans ever go with the truth?
